Day tour in Mandalay and Amarapura :
Mandalay is the last capital of Myanmar kings, heart of the Burmese nation, world-famous for its rich cultural and religious heritage.
In the morning your guide will lead you to Amarapura, capital of one of the ancient Burmese Kingdoms. You will visit Maha Gandaryon Monastery, important center of monastic study, and will walk along the famous U Bein Bridge. The bridge was built more than 150 years ago and is now believed to be the oldest and the longest (about 2 km) teak wood bridge in the world.
In the afternoon you will come back to Mandalay and will visit city’s major monuments. Among them are the Royal Palace, Shwenandaw monastery with astonishing wood-carvings, and Maha Muni pagoda housing the huge gilded Sitting Buddha image, one of the most revered by the Myanmar Buddhists. You will visit Kuthodaw pagoda and will see its unique collection of 729 stone slabs. The whole of the Buddhist scriptures are inscribed on these stone slabs. On your way will also be traditional workshops of the unique old crafts such as gold leaf creation, wood carving, puppetry, etc. You will meet the sunset on the top point of the Mandalay Hill admiring panoramas over the Irrawaddy river and the city.
