Located 70 miles north of Yangon, Moe Yun Gyi wetland wildlife sanctuary is the home for thousands rare species of resident and migratory water birds.  The sanctuary which plays an important role in the life of the local communities and support of the environmental balance of the area, was recently designated as internationally protected RAMSAR site.  It is also one of the most exciting and less explored ecotourism places in the proximity of Yangon. Although winter months December – March are considered the best time for bird watching, boating and walking in this peaceful off-beaten-trails area, the Sanctuary welcomes visitors all year round.
